smart goals

At the beginning of the year everyone is talking about goals.  New Year resolutions, vision boards, “word of the year” and journaling are everywhere.  You can hardly turn a page in a magazine or scroll through your favorite social media feed without one of these topics popping up everywhere you look!

Goal setting is extremely important.  Especially for the IDW who has a lot on her plate.  She has dreams to work toward, everyday tasks that must get done and so many plans for her immediate and distant future that her head might be spinning!

Since our focus at Sassy Healthy Fit is to help you find ways to balance all aspects of your life in ways that are SIMPLE, SUSTAINABLE & FUN, we thought it was important to talk about S.M.A.R.T. GOALS and why they are particularly important for YOU…now and throughout the year.

What are S.M.A.R.T. GOALS?

Specific

Measurable

Achievable

Relevant

Time Frame

It’s important to focus your goal setting efforts with this mindset so that you get the most “bang for your buck”.  Let’s talk specifics.  If your goal is to get into shape, let’s use our acronym to perfect that goal.

Goal: To get in shape

S.M.A.R.T. goal:

S – Go for a walk or jog

M – Write it down in your journal

A – Walking or jogging can be done anywhere (home, work, vacation, etc.)

R – More activity will increase your fitness level

T – 30-minutes, 3 days/week

By changing the way you think about your goal from a vague idea to a specific intention, you are much more likely to achieve the desired outcome.

Goal setting and dreaming is hugely important.  By making your goals S.M.A.R.T. you are likely to reach your dreams that much faster and feel more successful along the way!
