Journaling

Do you keep a journal?  We are not talking about one of those kinds you had when you were 12 that had a small, easily-pickable lock and each page started with “Dear Diary…”

Journaling is a hot topic in the personal development world.  You should journal to track your progress.  You should journal to write down your dreams.  You should journal to prioritize your tasks.

YES!

These statements are all true, but let’s take it back a few steps and talk about WHY journaling is powerful and relevant as an In Demand Woman.

YOU ARE IN DEMAND

DUH!!!  We don’t need to tell you how many tasks are flooding your calendar and taking up precious space in your mind.  However, since you are IN DEMAND, using a journal can help you obtain clarity and find a little breathing room with all of those responsibilities.  By spending a few minutes each day to write in your journal, you are allowing yourself dedicated time for YOU where you can put down your thoughts, clear your mind, focus on your why and realign your priorities.

YOU NEED TO BE AT THE TOP OF YOUR PRIORITY LIST

It’s really easy to forget this one!  When you are juggling work-life, home-life, mom-life, pet-life, volunteer-life, etc., sometimes it’s hard to know which ball to focus on.  Often times it’s the one called self-care that suffers.  As you know, self-care goes beyond getting a mani-pedi or spending a day by the pool.  Self-care is about taking the time to take care of YOU mind, body and soul.  It’s about nourishing your heart and head by digging deep inside yourself and really doing the work so you can live your best life.  A journaling practice will give you an outlet to express your thoughts that are most important to you and really take care of yourself.

SOMETIMES YOU JUST NEED TO LET IT ALL OUT

Have you ever vented to your spouse, partner or BFF and instantly regretted it because you feel like you said too much or are now perceived as a complainer?  There are times we just need to let it all out and whoever is the unfortunate soul in our path gets the brunt of our verbal backlash.  Journaling is a safe option where you can say anything and EVERYTHING without ever worrying that you wish you could take it back.  There is no judgement, no regrets, no overthinking.  Your journal practice can be an awesome way to release any tension without concern that you have “said too much”.

If you are new to journaling or not sure how to get started, stay tuned for our next segment on how to journal.  The sneak preview is that there is no “right way”…only what ever is the right way for you!  Start to think about how journaling can positively impact your daily life and help you grow and implement self-care.
