How do you like your coffee? There are so many options it can be overwhelming…
- How do you brew?
- Do you drink it black?
- Do you use cream, half & half, milk (nonfat, low-fat or whole?), almond milk, coconut milk or soy milk?
- Do you prefer dark roast or light roast?
- Do you like it piping hot or prefer it iced?
Bottom line…the possibilities are endless! The one thing that ALL coffee drinkers can agree on however…it is an essential part of every day!
We thought we would give you some “food for thought” as it pertains to your regular cup of Joe (how did it get that name anyway…? ). Here are some of our favorite ways to make your home-brewed cup of coffee a little more SASSY:
Hot & Spicy
Start with a dark roast coffee. Add a splash of your favorite cream or milk option. Then add a dash of ground cinnamon and ground cayenne for a kick! Not only will this fancy coffee waken up your taste buds, it will also have anti-oxidants, anti-inflammatory properties and could help boost your metabolism and lower your blood sugars. [1, 2]
Same as the recipe for Hot & Spicy, but replace the cayenne with a dash of turmeric. Turmeric is making headlines these days for its anti-inflammatory health benefits , but it will also add an
exotic flavor to your morning cup.
Smooth & Sweet
Start with a dark or light roast coffee. Add a splash of your favorite cream or milk option. Take a vanilla bean cut about a half inch to an inch off, split down the middle with a sharp knife and use the knife to scrape out the insides of the bean into your coffee. Add 1 teaspoon of Stevia, Monkfruit sweetener or other sweetener of choice (agave,
honey, raw sugar). You will feel warm and satisfied with this special treat.
Start with a light roast coffee. Add a splash of your favorite cream or milk option. Top it off with a 1/2 teaspoon of ground fennel. Fennel is known for many health
benefits including aiding with digestion, inflammation and bone health.
