Your voice is your superpower
Have you ever been told you were too loud? Or too quiet? Or just the thought of getting up to speak in front of ANYONE makes you break out into a cold sweat and hives?
Your voice is more than just a sound
In this interview with vocal coach Sloane Reali, she talks about how we come across vocally is a reflection of our upbringing, our confidence and our self-persona.
For example, if you were told you were too loud as a child and are constantly quieting your voice as an adult, you may not speak up as often as you like.
Or if you get extremely nervous at any opportunity to speak publicly, whether at work or at a dinner party, you might not be able to communicate what you truly feel in your heart.
In order to truly maximize your voice as your superpower, you have to examine your inner-self and really do a deep dive on who you are.
Breathwork, meditation and confidence in voice
It’s amazing how often we hold our breath throughout the day. Think about when you walk up a flight of stairs and you feel winded at the top. It’s most likely because you were holding your breath.
Or have you ever felt extremely exhausted when running on the treadmill? Probably because you were holding your breath!
Sloane suggests opening your airways and practicing breathing frequently to help you use your voice as your superpower!
Sloane also talks about the benefits of meditation and using affirmations to create a safe space to use your voice. “When we are coming from a place of love, we can’t be fearful.” She reflects on the power of meditation to channel that place of love.
Leveraging the power of your voice is a fantastic way to express yourself everyday, show yourself respect and show up in a way that is authentic to you.
