Push-ups are one of the single greatest exercises you can do for your body.  They are a simple exercise that require no equipment or special training to perform.  They work many major muscle groups all at once including chest, triceps, core and back.  Best of all…they are extremely challenging!  You don’t want to settle for an exercise that is easy right?

 

Push-ups can be modified for all exercise levels. When you are first starting out, you can do a push-up against a chair, bench or other object so you don’t have to take it all the way down to the floor.  You can also regress them by performing them on your knees.  If you are up for a challenge, you can practice diamond push-ups, pike push-ups or even one-handed push-ups.  Any form you do a push-up in will increase your muscular strength and make you feel like a strong, bad ass woman!

Before you get started, write down 3 positive affirmations.  You can write them on one piece of paper or individually….we leave that up to you.  Not sure how to come up with an affirmation?  Start with an “I am…” statement.  Or “I am worthy of…”. Here are a few examples:

I AM POWERFUL

I AM A BAD ASS SASSY BABE

I DO HARD THINGS

I AM WORTHY OF GREATNESS

I AM IN CONTROL OF MY LIFE

I DESERVE TO TAKE CARE OF MYSELF

Next step: place the affirmations on the floor below where you will do your push-ups.  Read the affirmation as you lower your body, and SAY IT OUT LOUD as you push-up.  It’s that simple!

This simple adaptation will make your routine of 15-30 (or more!) push-ups go faster, and the act of saying your affirmations out loud will solidify the positive energy in your mind, body and soul.
