We all know the saying “kill them with kindness”. Well, we don’t need to kill anybody, but we definitely serve ourselves and those around us better when we are kind!
Sometimes it feels difficult to be kind. There are mean people in the world. There are people that hurt us. There are people that don’t respect us. There are people who think they are better than us. Does that mean those people should suffer? They should get retribution for their negativity?
Being punitive and mean in response to those who are unkind will only make you feel bad inside. It might feel good for a hot-minute, and then you will start to feel guilt, shame, embarrassment and anger. You are BETTER THAN THAT!!!
Kindness is not always easy. But in the end, it is always better to show love and grace for others than to be spiteful. When you experience someone who is unkind, you don’t have to feel obligated to appease them or accept their negativity. But if you can respond in kindness and show respect, you will be better off.

If you do experience a person who is unkind to you, try following this practice:
- Take a deep breath and a few minutes to find your calm/re-center yourself
- If you need to scream or release any anger, do it! Just do it on your own so you are not perpetuating a bad cycle!
- Respond to the person with a smile and wish them well
- Move on and know that you are living in grace and kindness and you can’t control how others live their lives
Kindness, love and grace always supersede negativity. When you prioritize kindness, you are showing the world how bad ass, awesome and Sassy you are!
