No one has to tell you that fitness should be a priority in your life. You read the magazines, you scroll Instagram, you are up to date on all the latest fitness trends and want to have a rockin’ body! And yet, you are also an IDW and sometimes you feel like fitness is the LAST thing on your priority list.
Let’s have a heart-to-heart. If you don’t take care of your body and your physical fitness, how are you going to be able to do all the things you want to do? How will you be able to crush your day, pursue your dreams, take care of what you need to and be a kick-ass In Demand Woman like you know you are???
Now that we got that out of the way…how can we make fitness FUN so it is easy to prioritize and work it into your everyday life??? We have some ideas that won’t stress you out!
At home options:
Have a dance party! Do you like Beyonce, Britney, J Lo or just some hard core EDM? Whatever your favorite music is make a playlist that is easily accessible on your phone and crank it up! Dance while you are making dinner or thinking about what to wear for the day or prepping for your next meeting. Even a 5-minute dance break will be a great way to increase your heart-rate and clear your mind.
Go on Pinterest! You know you like to hangout on Pinterest for recipe ideas and home décor. Why not look up some workout routines that look fun? Print them out and put them on your fridge or tape them to your closet so you can do a couple of moves first thing in the morning or when you get home from work.
Play tag with your kids! Kids are the best for having fun and reminding us how it feels to laugh and find pleasure in the simplest activities. Ask your kids to teach you their favorite version of “tag” and you will definitely burn a few calories!
Go for a walk! Wherever you live, you can find beauty in your environment if you take the time to look for it. Put on your walking shoes, head outside and see how many new things you can notice in your neighborhood while getting in a 30-minute walk or jog.
Make the park your playground! When was the last time you played at the park? Stretch out your limbs and use the equipment to make a fun circuit. Pull-ups on the monkey bars, running up and down the play structure steps, climb the top of the dome, do push-ups against a bench…the possibilities are endless.
Join an intramural sports team! There are so many options for adult leagues of softball, soccer, kickball, volleyball, etc. You will have fun and meet new friends.
Take a class! Boutique fitness options are popping up everywhere you look. Some you might not be aware of: hot yoga, weighted yoga, aerial with scarves, pole dancing, etc. Use an app like Mind Body to find local classes near you. Also, Class Pass is an awesome subscription service that allows you to try out classes at multiple facilities so you don’t have to commit to only one studio!
Whatever fitness option sounds the most fun to you is likely the one that will get you moving. Buy yourself some cute workout clothes, schedule time to work your fitness in and make it a fun part of every day!
