Have you ever watched the TLC show “What Not to Wear”? If not, here’s a quick synopsis. Contestants are nominated by friends or family who want to see them dress better in everyday life. The hosts start off by throwing out almost everything in the contestant’s closet then give them tips on better fashion choices and a $5000 shopping spree in New York City to update their wardrobe. After the shopping spree, the contestant is sent to the hair salon for a new ‘do and to the show’s make-up artist to learn how to apply makeup that suits the contestant’s new look. The make-up artist often talks about the “5-minute face” and we think that is a pretty cool mantra as it applies to make-up.
The truth is, you don’t NEED make-up to be beautiful. Beauty comes from within. HOWEVER, taking care of your skin and putting your best face forward daily is a great way for every In Demand Woman to feel sassy, confident and show the world who’s boss.
Here’s a simple “5-minute face” routine anyone can implement to make the best first impression and feel your sassiest every day!
Start with a great sunblock that will protect your skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays and decrease wrinkles! Zinc is the key ingredient to a great sunscreen. One of our favorites is Elta’s Tinted Broad Spectrum SPF 46 facial sunscreen.
Next, apply an eye shadow primer to your eye lids to prevent creases in your eye-shadow throughout the day. We like Painted Longwear Paint Pot by Mac Costmetics.
Then, use a highlighter under your eye to brighten up your skin and get rid of any unwanted darkness. Try Mac Cosmetics Prep + Prime highlighter .
A light application of concealer under your eyes and on any blemishes will smooth out your skin. We like Mac Cosmetics Studio Finish concealer.
Using a large powder brush, apply a light amount of foundation and powder. To save time, we like the Studio Fix Powder by Mac Cosmetics for its all-in-one advantage!
Now to add some color! A light dusting of your favorite eye shadow over each lid is perfect. (check out Midnight Rodeo or Midnight Cowboy by Urban Decay). And use your blush brush to add some color to your cheek bones (we like Mac Cosmetics Cheeky Bits extra dimension blush). If you want a slightly more dramatic eye, you can line your eyes with liquid eye liner in black (we like Stila’s Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner).
Last step is lashes. Start with one coat of mascara primer to keep your lashes looking Sassy all day long (Booster XL mascara primer by Lancome) and then one coat of mascara (Roller Lash in black by Benefit is our favorite).
Throw on your favorite lip gloss or lipstick for a finished look and you are ready to conquer the day in 5 minutes!
